till death do us part

as i lay me down to sleep,

i pray the lord my soul to keep

my hand loosens around yours,

two bodies in a patch of nowhere

breaths shallow

the buzzards silent, distant

time seems to slow down,

your face dances in front of mine,

slow motion,

free falling but we lay still

if i die before i wake,

i pray the lord my soul to take

still,

everything is still

chipped fingernails

and chapped lips

and bloodshot eyes

lifeless, bloodshot eyes

hollow chests and hollow cheeks

the buzzards grow louder,

as we lay,

two bodies in a patch of nowhere,

hands intertwined

as we take our last breath

this is heavily inspired by the AMAZING song “in a week” by hozier & karen cowley!! that entire song is just so so poetic and i couldn’t help but be inspired by it. in other words… that song…. *chef kiss*
